Larry David Allard, 65, of Owatonna, died Saturday, November 28, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester. He was born January 5, 1944 in Sibley, Iowa the son of Lawrence and Margaret (Mercer) Allard. Larry graduated with the Worthington High School Class of 1962. He married Sharon Eggers Oct. 13, 1962 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Worthington. Larry served in the US Navy from 1962-1964 before completing his education at Alexandria Vo-Tech. The couple moved to Claremont when Larry accepted a job at VonRuden's Manufacturing. He then moved his family to Owatonna in 1968. Larry worked for SPX for over 30 years as a design engineer until his retirement in 2002. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and the Eagle's. Larry enjoyed golfing, bowling, and coffee with his friends. He loved camping and spending time at the lake with his family. Larry is survived by his wife Sharon Allard of Owatonna; children, Christine Enser of Owatonna, Bob (and Lori) Allard of Blooming Prairie, Brenda (and Scott) Blood of Owatonna; grandchildren, Alissa, Miranda Kendra Enser, Mariah, Savanah, Zachary Allard, Braxten,Morgan Blood; great grandson, Alex. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Monday from 4pm to 7pm and on Tuesday from 10am to 11am. Funeral services will be held December 1, 2009 at 11:00am at Michaelson Funeral Home with The Reverend Mark Rosenau officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Steele County Military Funeral Unit. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna.
