Larry Lee Laue, 73, of Nerstrand, died peacefully at home on Sunday, March 27, 2016 surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Allina Home Hospice.
Larry was born November 11, 1942 in Fairmont, Minnesota the son of Dietrich and Wilhemina Minnie (Krause) Laue. The family moved to the Kenyon/West Concord area when he was young. Larry was married and widowed from Betty Pettis in the early 1960's and in their union had a daughter, Colleen. On March 2, 1968, he married his childhood sweetheart, Norma Schmoll with whom he had three boys, Todd, Troy, and Matthew. While raising their family, Larry either farmed or worked as a mechanic mostly in Minnesota and Texas. Larry retired off the hog farm in 2005 and moved to Nerstrand where he continued to farm part time in the summer, tinker in his shop, enjoy his family, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and read his cowboy books.
Larry is survived by his wife, Norma Laue of Nerstrand; daughter, Colleen Pederson of Alborn, MN; three sons, Todd (Nicole) Laue of Menomonie, WI, Troy (Christine) Laue of Kenyon, and Matthew Laue (and special friend, Patti Saltou) of Faribault; 17 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brother, Darvin (Anne) Laue; sisters, Lorna (Merle Dean) Baarts, Lavonne (Rollie) Olson, Karen Rosso, and Ardis (Lenny) Lennartson; brother-in-law, Elroy Dokken. Larry is also survived by stepbrothers and sisters, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Amanda Laue; brothers, David and Walter; sisters, Lois Templeton and Delores Dokken.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kenyon on Thursday from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 1:00 PM at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kenyon with The Reverend Don Kloster officiating. Interment will be in the Concord Cemetery in Concord Township.
