Lavern Allyn Bendorf, 80, of Owatonna, died November 13, 2010 at Homestead Hospice House. He was born April 6, 1930 in Owatonna, Minnesota the son of Glenn and Mary (Neigebauer) Bendorf. Bud attended country schools in rural Owatonna. He graduated from Owatonna High School in 1948. He served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Bud was united in marriage to Darlene Thurnau on October 8, 1951 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Owatonna. After his discharge from the Air Force, Bud and Darlene bought a little farm place in Somerset Township but eventually took over the family farm and Bud continued to farm. Bud worked at Jostens from 1955 until 1978. He also worked for George Pfeifer. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. His life interests include fishing, hunting, woodworking, number/word find puzzles and spending time at his beloved cabin with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Darlene Bendorf of Owatonna; his children, Dan (and Kathy) Bendorf of Owatonna, Vicky (and LeRoy) Hartle of Owatonna, Bonnie (and Kim) Neumann of Medford, David (and Michele) Bendorf of Owatonna, Karen (and Mark) Peterson of Owatonna; grandchildren, Brooke (and Geoff) Zahn, Aubrey (and Jason) McShane, Lucas (and Molly) Hartle, Maggie Hartle (and special friend Anthony Kramer), Nick (and Sue) Neumann, Kris (and Shane) Reinhard, Cassandra (and Bob) Hanson, Matthew Bendorf, Thomas Bendorf, Nicole Peterson and Amanda Peterson; ten great-grandchildren, Abigail, Lauren, Jackson, Max, Mya, Kael, twins Corrina and Cordelia, Westin and Avery. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Joyce Wille and Glenice Groth. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and at Trinity Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM . Funeral services will be held November 17, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church with The Reverend Julie Malone officiating. Interment will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens in Owatonna with military honors by Steele County Military Funeral Unit. Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church, Homestead Hospice House or donor''s choice.
