Lavon Marie Wilson of West Concord passed away peacefully at Prairie Meadow Senior Living in Kasson, MN on November 2, 2015. Lavon was born on January 16, 1922 near Mantorville, MN to Walter and Hilda Lafky. She started school in district 51 and graduated from West Concord High School class of 1938. She married Clifford Kick Wilson in 1940. They farmed until Clifford went to serve in WW II. Upon his return they resumed farming until 1950 at which time they moved to West Concord. Lavon began working at the West Concord Municipal Liquor Store in 1950 and was named manager in 1958 until she retired in 1984. She took great pride in this position working long hours to help generate revenue for the small town she loved. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of West Concord and the American Legion Auxiliary. Dancing, playing cards, and crocheting were some of her favorite past times. In retirement she spent twenty years being a snowbird in Mesa, Arizona with her special friend Andy Erickson and sister Milly Meyers. A fan of Willie Nelson, singing and dancing to On the Road Again always brought a smile to her face. She loved her family very much and was a devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her four children, Connie Bachelder of Bentonville, AR., Dennis (Avis) Wilson of Farmington, MN, Thomas Wilson of Elk River, MN and Patricia (John) Derby of West Concord, MN. Her six grandchildren, Janette (James) Linville, Heather (Michael) Huff, Chad (Dawn) Wilson, Angela (Erick) Organ, Sara (Tylar) Derby, David (Ashley) Derby. She was blessed with eight great grandchildren. Lavon is also survived by a sister Milly Meyers of Kasson. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who always put others before herself. Her caring and loving manner will be missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Prairie Meadow Senior Living and Season's Hospice for their wonderful care. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Doris Shay, her husband Clifford Wilson, special friend, Andrew Erickson and a brother, John Lafky. Visitation will be at United Methodist Church, West Concord on Thursday, November 5, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 11:00 AM at United Methodist Church, West Concord with The Reverend Dave Westlake and The Reverend Victor Jortack officiating. Interment will be in the Concord Cemetery in Concord Township. Memorials are preferred to the West Concord American Legion or the United Methodist Church, West Concord.
