LaVonne Mae Meixner, 85, of Owatonna, died Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Koda Living Community. LaVonne was born November 26, 1928 in Somerset Township, Minnesota the daughter of John and Nettie (Kruckeberg) Standke. She attended District school 57 and then Owatonna High School graduating in 1947. She worked for a short while at Federated Insurance prior to her marriage. LaVonne was united in marriage to George Meixner on July 28, 1949 at St. John Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Owatonna. LaVonne worked at the Owatonna Hospital, the Owatonna Country Club, Gopher Sports, but mostly she helped with their excavating business as a bookkeeper. LaVonne was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church, the Senior Lutheran Crusaders Club, Healthy Seniors and also a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Eagles Auxiliary. She enjoyed baking, listening to old time music and also gardening. Other hobbies of LaVonne's included painting, sewing and embroidery work. She also received the fifty year pin as a member of the ZCBJ. LaVonne enjoyed all her jobs, but the one job that she wanted to do was to be a beautician. She is survived by her children, Sandy (and Dan) Janke of Owatonna; Judy Meixner of Tucson, AZ; Pam (and Dave) Kasper of Owatonna; Lisa Rae (and Allan) Skalicky of Altura; Mike (and Denise) Meixner of Owatonna; Jody (and Ron) Kaiser of Owatonna; her brothers and sisters, John (and Bev) Standke of Owatonna; LaDonna (and Reuben) Ebeling of Owatonna; Arlene (and Ted) Sorensen of Owatonna; Dale (and Sue) Standke of Morristown; a brother-in-law, Harold Schroeder of Owatonna, 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren, 23 step great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Meixner; a brother and sister-in-law, Myron and Janette Standke, her sister, Orvetta Schroeder, a grandson, David, a granddaughter, Alyn and a special friend, Ove Paulson. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the church. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the Steele Center Cemetery in Somerset Township. Memorials are preferred to the Owatonna Home Care and Hospice, St. John Lutheran Church or donor's choice.
