Lawrence C. 'Bud' Jacobson, 84, of Kenyon, died Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Kenyon Sunset Home. Bud was born December 23, 1924 in Holden Township, rural Kenyon, Minnesota the son of Nels and Ida (Lee) Jacobson. He was raised in Holden Township and attended Dovre country school District 56. Bud then worked on the family farm before entering the United States Army in 1944. He served in the Philippines during WWII. After receiving his honorable discharge in April 1947, Bud returned to the Kenyon area and worked alongside his Dad on the farm. He also worked for Les Anderson Tire Shop. Bud was united in marriage to Ruth Hildebrandt on October 20, 1951 in Dale Lutheran Church. They made their home near Kenyon and continued farming. They later moved into Kenyon and he worked for the City of Kenyon and after worked for Holden Township. Bud enjoyed playing baseball where he pitched for Dennison and for Kenyon. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He is survived by his wife Ruth Jacobson of Kenyon; daughter, Shirley (and Don) Woodward of Kenyon; two sons, Jeff (and Renae) Jacobson of Kenyon; Tim Jacobson of Kenyon; a brother, Nick (and Addie) Jacobson of Caledonia; a sister, Pearl Sathre of Northfield; four grandchildren, Melissa (and Dale) Callstrom, Jason (and Marybelle) Jacobson, Lacy (and Carl Larish) Jacobson, Bobby Woodward, five great grandchildren, Dylan Callstrom, Britta Callstrom, Spencer Miner, Jay Jacobson and Eva Jacobson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nels and Ida, his son David Jacobson; two brothers, Ossie Jacobson and Sam Jacobson; his sister Eleanor Jacobson; and his great grandson Gunnar Callstrom. Visitation will be at Holden Lutheran Church on Tuesday, November 3 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, November 3, at 11:00 AM at Holden Lutheran Church with The Reverend Nancy Edwardson officiating. Interment will be in the Holden Lutheran Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Kenyon Veteran Color Guard.
