Lawrence O. Een, 87, of Owatonna, died Friday, April 30, 2010 at Cedarview Care Center. He was born March 1, 1923 in rural Pemberton the son of Knute and Lavina (Rogness) Een. Lawrence attended Pemberton Schools graduating in 1941. He went on to attend Mankato Teachers College for one year. Lawrence joined the US Navy in 1944 and was honorably discharged on April 18, 1946. He married Elaine Braun on September 18, 1944 in Alma City. They raised seven children. Elaine preceded him in death on April 4, 1991. On May 30, 1992 he married Gertrude (Krell) Klemmensen at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Owatonna. Lawrence worked at Josten's, General Equipment, Tubco and WSI in Owatonna. He also worked at Streeters in Albert Lea and Nutting Caster Co. in Faribault and retired from Crown Cork Seal in Faribault in 1994. He was a machinist by trade. Lawrence was a great handyman who could build and fix most anything. He was always there to do things for other people. He took pride in building his house in Owatonna after farming in Deerfield Township. Lawrence was very proud of his Norwegian Heritage and time served in the Navy. He loved to travel, read and feed the birds. He was a member of Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church He is survived by his wife, Gertrude Een of Owatonna; sons, David (and Theresa) Een of Owatonna, Norbert Een of St. Paul, Danny (and Yvette) Een of Hollywood, FL, Terry (and Cindy) Een of Minneapolis; daughter, Trudell (and Amine Hajji) Een of San Jose, CA; daughter-in-law, Christine (and Lane) Hobbs of Lacey, WA; grandchildren, Jenny Een, Sara Een, Eric Een, Elizabeth Een, Emily Een, David Een, Erin Een Hobbs, Omar Hajji, Saraya Hajji; brother, Andrew (and Betty) Een of Northfield; brother-in-law, Robert Krell of Blooming Prairie; step children, Lynn (and Loren) Krause, Barbara (and Alex) Anderson, Allen (and Julie) Klemmensen, Mark (and Konie) Klemmensen, Diane (and Gary) Froelich, Mary (and Jeff Nail) Klemmensen, Patty (and Curtis) Concannon; grandchildren, April, Michael, Ryan, Matthew, Erin, Brandon, Breanna, Brent, Joshua, Dakota, Christopher, Casey, Katie, Cody, Chase; great grandchildren, Dylan, Tyler, Dustin, Jayden, Carter, Taylor, Kale, Kianna, Hailee, Jack, Jacob, Ryan, Emma, Jada, Selena. Lawrence was preceded in death by his first wife, Elaine; sons, Richard Een, Nathan Een; brother, Luther Een; sister, Ella 'Eva' Fluegel. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday, May 6, 2010 from 4pm to 7pm and at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church on Friday from 10am to 11am. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 7, 2010 at 11:00am at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church with The Reverend Thomas Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna.
