Leeward Melos Schreiber, 88, of Kenyon, died Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Kenyon Sunset Home. Leeward was born November 18, 1923 in Kenyon, Minnesota, the son of Roy and Lydia (Kitzman) Schreiber. Lee graduated from Kenyon High School in 1941. On June 28, 1947 he married June Hostager at Holden Church in rural Kenyon. Lee was employed at various jobs in the Kenyon area but a majority of his time was spent working at the Kenyon Farmers Elevator, retiring from there in 1985. Lee''s love of animals was evident by the many different kinds of animals he raised including sheep, goats and numerous litters of puppies. He especially enjoyed spending time with his 'Special' Boxer Shatze. Numerous trips to the cabins at Cass Lake and Hackensack emphasized his love of the great outdoors, from fishing to hunting and spending many hours with his chain saw cutting and splitting wood. During his retirement Lee enjoyed building furniture and various woodworking projects. No day was complete with morning coffee at his bothers house. He is survived by his wife June Schreiber of Kenyon; daughters, Nancy Schreiber of Burnsville, Lynn Page of Eagan, and Beth Schreiber of Rosemount, a son, David (and Pat) Schreiber of Kenyon; brother, Russell (and Ann) Schreiber, sisters, LaDonna (and Dave) Johnson, Carolyn Klomstad, and Darlene Seward; grandchildren Emily (Jeff) Schoenfelder, Maari Schreiber, Allison and Kjersten Page, Jaye, Anthony and Nick Marthaler; great grandchildren, Kyra, Preston and Trey Schoenfelder, and Jayda Jeske. Lee was preceded in death by his father Roy Schreiber; his mother Lydia Schreiber Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon on Friday, January 27th from 4 pm to 7 pm and at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kenyon on Saturday January 28th from 10am to 11am. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 11 am at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kenyon with The Reverend Luther Mathsen and Reverend Harris Hostager officiating.
