Obituary

Leland Dale Kruger, 70, of Owatonna, died Monday, September 8, 2014 at his home in Owatonna. He was born June 24, 1944 in Owatonna, Minnesota the son of Eugene and Grace (Frederickson) Kruger. He attended Owatonna High School. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from June 29, 1967 until his honorable discharge on June 23, 1969. Leland was shot in the knee on his first day in Vietnam and appeared on the Bob Hope show while he recuperated in the hospital. Leland resided in Oklahoma and later returned to Minnesota. He enjoyed helping area farmers. He worked for Keith Stolz Farms and Anderson Farms where he drove grain truck and assisted in the fields. He also worked for R&M Construction. Leland retired at the age of 55. He enjoyed watching westerns. He is survived by four brothers, Fred (and Kathy) Kruger of Faribault, Michael Kruger of Moland, Eugene (and Angie) Kruger of Owatonna, and Edward (and Ali) Kruger of Dodge Center; two sisters, JoAnn (and David) Wood of Prosper, TX and Karen Waskosky of Owatonna; many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Grace Kruger; aunts and uncles. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Friday, September 12, 2014 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
