Leo C. "Bud" Skalicky, 98, of Owatonna, died Friday, August 3, 2018 at Homestead Hospice House. He was born October 28, 1919 in Owatonna the son of Joseph and Mary (Chladek) Skalicky. Bud graduated from Owatonna High School in 1937. He began working for Josten's prior to serving in the US Marine Corps from 1942-1945. Upon returning from his military service, Bud married Leona Kriesel September 22, 1945 at St. John Lutheran Church. He returned to work at Josten's enjoying a long career before retiring in 1984. Bud was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, the American Legion and the VFW. He was also a member of the Marine Corps League and enjoyed volunteering to work their Toys for Tots campaign. Bud had several hobbies including hunting, fishing and gardening. He enjoyed traveling with his family and hobby farming with his son-in-law. Bud cherished time spent with his family and friends. He is survived by daughters, Judy (and John) Kriesel of Owatonna, Lynn Butler of Owatonna; grandchildren, James (and Caroline Wilky) Kriesel of Philadelphia, PA, Tony (and Laura) Kriesel of London, England; great granddaughter, Francesca and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, son-in-law, grandson, two brothers and four sisters. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday from 10am to 11am. Memorial services will be held Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 11am at Michaelson Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating.
