Leonard J. 'Toby' Schrom, 63, of Owatonna, died Friday, February 13, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester. He was born November 27, 1945 in Owatonna the son of Leonard and Anna (Pfeifer) Schrom. Toby graduated from Owatonna High School in 1964. In 1969, Toby graduated from Mankato State College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He worked for Alexander Lumber and later Associated Church. Toby married Sara (Steinbauer) Schroer in 1988 and the couple made their home in Owatonna. Toby played softball and other sports until having heart surgery. He kept involved with sports as an avid sports fan that enjoyed watching and supporting all the Minnesota sports teams. Toby enjoyed fishing, gardening, woodworking and going to rummage sales and auctions. Toby also loved classic cars. He is survived by his stepson, Matthew (and Ann) Schroer of Spencer, IA; stepdaughter, Noelle (and Terry) Huether of Davis, SD and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara, in 2004. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Monday from 4-7pm and at Trinity Lutheran Church on Tuesday from 10-11am. Funeral services will be held February 17, 2009 at 11:00am at Trinity Lutheran Church with The Reverend Julie Malone officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund, Westfield Church Restoration Fund or to the donor''s choice.
