Obituary

Leonard A. Wohlfiel, 92, of West Concord, Minnesota died Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Circle Drive Manor in West Concord. Leonard was born August 16, 1924 in Dodge County, Minnesota the son of William and Hazel (Blanchard) Wohlfiel. He grew up in Ellington Township and later Berne where he helped on the family farm until 1960. On September 16, 1961, he married Patricia Knobel at Berne. Leonard worked for the Dodge County Highway Department for six years. In 1966, they moved to a small farm outside West Concord where they farmed. Leonard also worked for the city of West Concord Maintenance Department, retiring after 24 years in September of 1990. Leonard's ongoing dedication to West Concord was shown with his 20 years of service with the West Concord Fire Department and volunteerism in the community; especially Survival Days. He enjoyed their lake cabin and boating on Cedar Lake in Faribault, visiting with neighbors and helping them with lawn mowing and snow removal, and recently as a resident of Circle Manor Drive; playing bingo, watching television, and traffic coming in and out of town. He is survived by his children, Leroy (Erika) Wohlfiel of Mantorville, Diane McKittrick of West Concord, and Lester (Linda) Wohlfiel of Kasson; step children, Cheryl Andresen of Cedar Park, TX, Mark (Lisa) Finstuen of West Concord, and Julie (Georg) Lewitz of Peoria, AZ; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Helen (Forrest) Higgins of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia; brothers, Calvin, Alvin, and Kenneth Wohlfiel; sisters, Evelyn Jarstad and Fern Wiuff. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, West Concord Chapel on Sunday, April 9, 2017 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and at Faith Community Church on Monday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 10, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Faith Community Church, West Concord with Reverend David Breederland officiating. Interment will be in the Concord Cemetery in Concord Township. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to West Concord Fire Department.
