Leroy C. Gunhus, 72, of Apple Valley, died Saturday July 12, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. He was born August 5, 1941 in Faribault, Minnesota the son of Edwin and Carol (Hope) Gunhus. He graduated from Kenyon High School with the class of 1959, and then attended Austin Technical College. Leroy was united in marriage to Judy Cordes on August 27, 1960 at Gol Lutheran Church. The couple moved to Seattle, WA while Leroy was employed with Boeing Aircraft. They then moved back to the Minneapolis area making their home in Apple Valley. Leroy was employed with General Dynamics for forty three years. He enjoyed motorcycling, Red Wing Pottery, camping, and going shooting. He is survived by his wife Judy Gunhus of Apple Valley, two sons Scott (and Jeannette) Gunhus of Apple Valley, and Brady Gunhus of Apple Valley, three granddaughters Jordan, Madalyn, and Ashton. He is also survived by three sisters Yvonne (Darrel) Pofahl of Medford, Helen (Bob) Peterson of Kenyon, Gwen (Warren) Springer of Kenyon, and three brothers Dennis (Brenda) Gunhus of Kenyon, Kevin (Kathy) Gunhus of Lake City, and Mark Gunhus of Kenyon, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Gordon. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon on Tuesday July 15, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and at Gol Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday July 16, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Gol Lutheran Church with Reverend Marvin Kormann, and Reverend Heather Culuris officiating. Interment will be in the Gol Cemetery.
