Lizzie A. Meixner, age 93, of Owatonna, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Traditions Assisted Living in Owatonna. She was born on August 15, 1931, to the late Arlie Earl and Olive R. (Westberg) Benson in Bouton, Iowa. The Benson family moved to Pine City, Minnesota where Lizzie would attend country school. Growing up, she would often remember the work she did to help on the family farm, reminiscing her experience of milking the dairy cows by hand.

On April 1, 1948, Lizzie married Myron Meixner after his honorable discharge from the United States Army in Owatonna, later divorcing. While married, Lizzie and Myron would raise their family on the Meixner farm. While living on the farm, Lizzie often enjoyed the time she spent with her children as a farm wife, helping with tending the dairy cows, hogs, chickens, geese, and the fields of crop.

When Lizzie entered the work force, she worked as a waitress and bartender at the Owatonna Inn for over 28 years. Lizzie was a devoted member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Owatonna and an active member of the Owatonna VFW Auxiliary Post #3723. As of recently, she enjoyed spending time with her lady friends. The traditional Friday night out would consist of the group visiting the Elk's Lodge, VFW, or American Legion to scratch lotto tickets and have dinner together. Lizzie also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, always remembering to spoil each and every one of them.

Lizzie is survived by her four children: Gerald (Marilyn) Meixner of Owatonna, Janet (Richard) Steinberg of Owatonna, Dennis (Deb) Meixner of Bagley, and Kevin (Deb) Meixner of Hackensack; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mary (Art) Ripka; sister-in-law, Rachel Benson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Opal (Chet) Kiles and Ruby (Ken Johnson) Benson; and brothers, Robert (Lucille) Benson and Earl Benson.

A celebration of Lizzie's life will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 PM on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the V.F.W in Owatonna. Lizzie will be laid to rest at a later date at Owatonna Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, Lizzie's family would like memorials to go to Traditions Assisted Living in Owatonna her in memory for all the wonderful care that she's given Lizzie.
