Obituary

Lloyd Perry Jackson, 88, of Pine Island, died Sunday, February 22, 2009 in Brooklyn Park at his daughter''s home He was born October 20, 1920 in Milton Township the son of William and Verna (Welsh) Jackson. Shortly after his birth he moved with his parents to his mother's hometown in Canada. The family stayed in Canada until Lloyd was six years old. At that time they moved back to the Pine Island area to farm. Lloyd married Kathryn Flicek Feb. 21, 1945 at the Pine Island Methodist Church parsonage. He worked in the aircraft factories in California before serving in the US Army Air Force during 1945. After his military service Lloyd attended agriculture school in Rochester and began farming. He was a member of Pine Island United Methodist Church and the Pine Island American Legion. Lloyd loved horses. As a young man he was sought after for his horse handling abilities. Lloyd was also a member of AQHA, APHA and the Appaloosa Horse Club. Lloyd enjoyed music, dancing and horseback riding. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Kate Jackson of Pine Island; daughter, Bonita Zelazny of Brooklyn Park; granddaughters, Amy (and John) Whitehead of Cross Plains, WI, Meghan (and Ben) Baumann of Waconia; great grandchildren, Calli Whitehead, Khia Baumann, Fynn Baumann; sisters, Edith Hoffman of Casper, WY, Iola (and Tom) Zellmer of North Mankato, Marlene Witts of Zumbrota and several nieces and nephews. Lloyd was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Lloyd Jackson; son-in-law, Jerry Zelazny and brother, Lawrence Jackson. Visitation will be at Pine Island United Methodist Church on Friday from 4-7pm and on Saturday from 10-11am. Funeral services will be held February 28, 2009 at 11:00am at Pine Island United Methodist Church with The Reverend Greg Strunk officiating. Interment will be in the Concord Cemetery in Concord Township. Visitation: 02/27/2009 16:00 02/27/2009 19:00 Service: and one hour prior to the service at the church. 02/28/2009 11:00
