Lloyd Nielsen, 93, of Owatonna, died Sunday, April 3, 2011 at Owatonna Hospital. Lloyd was born in Owatonna, Minnesota the son of James and Eva (Nelson) Nielsen. As a young boy, he moved with his family to the Medford area and attended school there. Lloyd farmed along with his father. He was united in marriage to Ruth Nelson on September 1, 1948 at Vista Evangelical Lutheran Church. Lloyd took over his parents farm in the early 50''s and farmed for many years. In 1982, the couple moved to Owatonna. Ruth died on September 26, 2008. Lloyd was a rock hound that collected rocks and polished them turning some of them into jewelry. He was a well read man that liked to tinker around and invent things. He enjoyed the outdoors. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth (2008), his sister Gladys Peters (2008); and his parents Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday, April 7, 2011 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home with The Reverend Julie Malone officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
