Obituary

Lloyd Marvin Von Ruden, 81, of Claremont, died Sunday, August 18, 2019 at his home. He was born March 13, 1938 in Claremont the son of Hugo and Evelyn (Elsner) Von Ruden. Lloyd attended country school near Claremont. He served in the US Army from Jan 1956 to Jan 1959. He returned to Claremont where he met Susan Epps. The couple was married June 5, 1963. Lloyd worked various manufacturing jobs. He owned and operated the snack shop in the Cedar Mall in Owatonna and the cafe and gas station on the corner of Highway 14 at Claremont. He finished his career at Mercury Minnesota in Faribault. Lloyd was a firefighter for the Claremont Fire Department. He loved woodworking, gardening, mowing lawn and being outside. He is survived by daughters, Tamara (and Susan) Conner of Claremont, Teresa Dumais of Wabasha; grandchildren, Meghan (and Tony) Deml, Brandi (and Adam) Grunklee, Andrea Dumais, Aron Dumais, Christina Dumais, Devin Dumais; sister, Norma (and Don) Bissen of Owatonna, Betty Torrez of Des Moines, IA, Marlys Paul of Litchfield, Margie (and Roger) Pedley of Motley and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, two brothers and one sister. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials are preferred to Homestead Hospice Patient Care Fund or to the donor's choice.
