Lloyd John Wobbrock, 88, of Claremont, Minnesota died Friday, October 20, 2017 at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna.
Lloyd was born June 12, 1929 in Mankato, Minnesota the son of John and Madelyn (Brase) Wobbrock. He grew up in Medford, Minnesota and graduated from Medford High School in 1947. Lloyd excelled in sports, he played basketball, football and baseball and later played for the Owatonna Aces. He continued his education at Mankato College until he was drafted into the United States Army. Lloyd was stationed stateside during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1955. Lloyd was united in marriage to Alice Kruckeberg on May 29, 1952 in Owatonna. They made their home in Claremont where Lloyd owned and operated Wobbrock Trucking for over 40 years along with being a DOT Truck Inspector. When Lloyd was not working he enjoyed spending time with family at South Cedar Shores on Cedar Lake.
Lloyd was a member of the Claremont American Legion and served as Commander for 25 years. He also served as Mayor of Claremont, Board of Claremont Improvement Corporation for many years, and Claremont Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and board member until the church closed.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Wobbrock of Claremont; sons, Scott Wobbrock (Lisa Aronson) of Dodge Center and Bob (Julie) Wobbrock of Claremont; grandchildren; Jeff Wobbrock of Kansas City, MO, Michelle Wobbrock (Victor Cabadas) of Owatonna, Amber (Zac) McGaughy of Fort Worth, TX, Kylie Wobbrock (Brady Hickey) of Dodge Center, and Jake Wobbrock of Claremont; four great grandchildren, Brylee, Sophia, Toby, and Caden; brother, Chuck (Jan) Wobbrock of Owatonna; sister-in-law, Doris Wobbrock of Mankato; and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ronald and Darrel Wobbrock.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna on Monday, October 23, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Owatonna on Tuesday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Redeemer Lutheran Church with The Reverend Kirk Griebel officiating. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Claremont with full military honors conducted by the Claremont American Legion Post #422.
Memorials are preferred to Claremont American Legion Veterans Memorial Fund.
