Obituary

Lois Elaine Herrlich, 90, of Kenyon, died Thursday, March 14, 2019 at her home. Lois was born October 10, 1928 at St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato, Minnesota the daughter of John and Gladys (Johnson) Juergens. She was raised on the family farm in Amboy, Minnesota. She met Ivan in high school and they courted until they were married, December 14, 1947. Lois attended college for a year until they started a family and career in farming in Lake Crystal area. In 1956, they bought their first farm and moved their four children to Kenyon. With her partner, they grew the farm and family in the next 63 years. Lois enjoyed a variety of activities throughout her life. During their courtship, Ivan and Lois enjoyed playing cards, dining and dancing with friends. Mom had a preschooler for 25 years and during this time she was a room mother, Sunday School teacher, and resident seamstress for three daughters and four granddaughters participating in 4-H. While taking six children and their friends to the lake, she learned how to swim and waterski. Later she participated in Home Extension, several card clubs, and flower gardening. She was an avid reader and enjoyed outings with her friends and family. Lois was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She often took her grandchildren on trips to the bookstore for them to purchase a book of their choice.
