Lois Jean Nelson, 75, of Fargo, formerly of Owatonna, died Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Merit Care Hospital, Fargo, ND. She was born October 11, 1933 in Ellendale the daughter of Raymond and Daisy (Parker) Schuler. Lois graduated from Ellendale High School in 1951. She married Kenneth A. Nelson June 12, 1952 in Owatonna. During their first year of marriage, the couple lived in Fort Riley, KS at the military base where Kenneth was stationed. Following his military service, the couple returned to Owatonna. In 1995, Lois moved to Bethany Nursing Home in Fargo, ND. Lois stayed at home to raise her five children. She was a scout leader, avid reader and a fan of the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings. Lois was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. She is survived by daughter, Dr. Susan (and Kim Goehring) Nelson of Moorhead; sons, Scott (and Heather McKay) Nelson of Robbinsdale, David Nelson of Mankato, Robert (and Cheryl) Nelson of Carver, John (and Tammy) Nelson of Faribault; grandchildren, Christine Nelson, Eric Nelson, Elyssa Nelson, Jocelyn Nelson, Jennifer Hobbs, Nicholas Nelson; great grandchildren, Jakoby, Odessa and Charley Nelson; sisters, Doris (and Pat) Kern, Evelyn Schroeder, Genevieve (and Norbert) Bice; sister in law, Virginia Latvola and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; sister, Eleanor Trenda; brothers, Arnold Schuler, Kenneth Schuler, Everett Schuler, Sid Schuler, Clyde Schuler; brother-in-law, Leonard Nelson Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Monday, March 9 from 12-1pm. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 9, 2009 at 1:00pm at Michaelson Funeral Home with Rev. John Weisenburger officiating. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Claremont.
