Lois Wanous, 80, of Owatonna, died Friday, February 6, 2009 at Homestead Hospice House. Lois was born August 18, 1928 in Waseca, Minnesota the daughter of LeRoy and Hedwig "Hazel" (Joecks) Krassin. She was baptized into faith on September 9, 1928 in Wilton Lutheran Church and confirmed her faith on July 4, 1943. Lois was raised and attended country school in St. Mary's Township, near Waseca. Following school, Lois worked for Birds Eye in Waseca. She married Lloyd Holthus in June of 1947. They farmed near Waseca. Later they moved to Janesville where they owned and operated a service station. They then moved to Owatonna and here they owned and operated another service station. Lois also worked for Westside Care Center and Fair Lanes Bowling Alley. Lloyd and Lois later divorced. She then married Jim Wanous on September 27, 1975. They made their home in Janesville and in 1986, they moved to Owatonna. Lois worked for Brown Printing until 1991. Lois loved to bowl and bowled in leagues. She enjoyed dancing, crocheting, mending clothes and baking. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life. As a mother and wife, she was always very busy raising her large family, but she enjoyed being a mother and wife very much and always had an endless love for her family. She will always be remembered for being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She is survived by her husband James Wanous of Owatonna, six sons, Larry (and Carolyn) Holthus of Tenstrike, MN; Leroy (and Rebecca) Holthus of Owatonna, Lynn (and Judith) Holthus of Owatonna, Lane (and Dawn) Holthus of Janesville, Loel (and Lynne) Holthus of Owatonna, Lee (and Diane) Holthus of Waseca, a daughter, Linda (and Tom Strand) Erdman of Ellendale, step-son, Kevin (and Patty) Wanous of Owatonna, two brothers, Harvey Krassin of Waseca, Merlin (and Viola) Krassin of Waseca, 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Lois was preceded in death by her parents LeRoy and Hedwig 'Hazel' Krassin, and Lois'' twin brother, Lowell. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the church. Funeral services will be held February 10, 2009 at 10:30 AM at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the Bohemian National Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to the Homestead Hospice House in loving memory of Lois.
