Loraine Joyce Lindgren, 89, of Owatonna, died Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna. She was born April 1, 1924 in Minneapolis, Minnesota the daughter of Herman and Lillian (Edlund) Larson. She graduated from the Minneapolis Public School System where she was active in band. Loraine followed in her father''s footsteps and joined the United States Marine Corp where she proudly worked her way to Staff Sergeant. While in the service, Loraine met the love of her life, James Lindgren. They were married July 16, 1946 in Los Angeles, California and remained in love until Jim''s death in August of this year after 67 years of marriage. They made their home in Owatonna where she worked as the secretary to their family business, Owatonna Graphics, until it was sold. In 1981 they resided in Waterville on Reeds Lake while she and Jim raised their granddaughter, Maria. She loved fishing and always enjoyed entertaining while living on Reeds Lake. She and Jim returned to Owatonna in 2000. In April of 1985, Loraine began a 28 year career with Express Employment Professionals as an Administrative Assistant and Office Coordinator. She always delighted in letting people know that she continued to work up until last August after Jim''s death. Her military mantra of "head up, shoulders back'' was heard almost daily by her coworkers. Loraine enjoyed great humor, a good drink, respectable company, the occasional "dabbling'' at Diamond Jo''s and spending time with her family whenever she could. She was a member of the Elks where she and her best friend, Dorothy Jensen, became known as the "master pull-tab'' players. If there was a song playing that was written before 1950, Loraine knew the words by heart and didn''t mind breaking out in song- no matter where she was. Loraine''s great heart, infectious spirit and her general love for life will be missed".but never forgotten. She is survived by her son, Jay Lindgren of Owatonna; daughter, Maria Obondo of Windom; close family friend, Betsy Lindgren of Owatonna; eight grandchildren, Josh, Justin, Jamie, Kellie, Katie, Sheston, Travis, and Lillian; seven great grandchildren, Spencer, Ian, Quinn, and Aiden, Tia, McKenna, and Tyler.
