Loren Gene Erickson, 50, of Kenyon, died on Thursday, December 14, 2017 in Walcott, Iowa of natural causes while trucking. Loren Gene Erickson was born December 19, 1966 in Rochester, Minnesota the son of Darvin and Shirley (Benson) Erickson. He grew up in Kenyon where he attended school, graduating with the Class of 1985. He continued his education at Dakota County Vo-Tech in Rosemount studying diesel mechanics. Following his schooling, he drove truck for his father before taking a job with Shorty's Towing in Fridley. While living in Fridley, he met and married Jacqueline Schuur and they had a daughter, Courtney. Loren later divorced and returned to Kenyon. He eventually settled on the farmstead of his grandparents. He was a self-employed truck driver leased to Freerksen Enterprises out of Dodge Center and then later to PRO Trucking out of Albert Lea. When he wasn't driving truck, he enjoyed helping his neighbor on the farm, family camping trips and watching NASCAR races. Loren was a laid-back, happy, loyal and genuine person. He lived in the moment and took one day at a time. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Loren never went anywhere without his dog, Scooter. Scooter enjoyed trucking as much as Loren did. He is survived by his daughter, Courtney Erickson of Coon Rapids; mother, Shirley(Larry) Dechant of Tomah, WI; brother, Darin (Rochelle) Erickson of Kenyon; sisters, Rhonda (David) Amon of Minnetonka and Chrysauna (Rick) Buan of Chanhassen; nieces and nephews Evan Holmes, Nathan Schmidt, Victoria (Derek) Hoger, Melissa Amon, Alec Buan and Macy Buan and his furry companion and co-pilot, Scooter. He was preceded in death by father, Darvin Erickson; grandparents, Raymond and Dorothy Benson and Lester and Myrtle Erickson and his uncle, Lowell Erickson. There will be two visitations, one will be held at Michaelson Funeral Home in Kenyon on Friday, December 29, 2017 from 4-7 PM and the other at the church one hour prior to the service. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Hegre Lutheran Church rural Kenyon with Reverend Renita Eidenshink officiating.
