Obituary

Loretta M. Moe, 78, of Owatonna, died Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Homestead Hospice House. Loretta was born December 23, 1936 in Cresco, Iowa the daughter of John and Gertrude (Heidi) Rassman. The family moved to Claremont in 1951. Loretta then moved to Owatonna where she graduated from Owatonna High School in 1956. She was united in marriage to Donald Moe on November 19, 1955 at St. John Lutheran Church. The couple made their home near Owatonna. She worked at Jerry's Supper Club and then began working for Northwestern Bell in 1976. The telephone company later became US West (Century Link) and from there she retired in 1998. She also worked as a caregiver at the Unity House #5 in Owatonna. Donald died in 1980. Loretta enjoyed reading, crocheting and needlework. She was a lifetime member of the VFW, and also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Telephone Pioneers. She is survived by a daughter, Julie Maxwell of Billings, MT; a son, Randy (and Julie) Moe of Owatonna; 10 grandchildren, Sarah (and Simon) Escamilla; Heidi Wencl; Holly (and Jason) Neubauer; Erin Wencl; Andrew Wencl; Derek (and Abby) Moe; Evan Moe; Anna Moe; Jerilyn Maxwell and Nicole (and Cortney) Foss; five great grandchildren, Nico Moe; Olivia Blumers; Mikenna Blumers; Emily Blumers; and Quentin Escamilla;. Loretta is also survived by her brothers, Eugene (and Frances) Rassman of Owatonna; Robert Rassman of New York; Gordon (and Gladys) Rassman of Owatonna; a sister, Betty (and Allen) Buss of Owatonna; best friend, Tina Knudson and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Moe; an infant son, Scott in 1958; her parents; a sister, Mary Anderson; and two brothers, Allan Rassman, Wayne Rassman. Visitation will be at Aurora Lutheran Church on Friday, March 20, 2015 one hour prior to the service. Memorial services will be held Friday, March 20, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Aurora Lutheran Church with The Reverend Jonathan Davis officiating. Interment will be in the Aurora Lutheran Cemetery in Havana Township. Memorials are preferred to Homestead Hospice House. Arrangements by Michaelson Funeral Home.
