Lorraine V. Hanson of Owatonna, died Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Homestead Hospice House. She was born in Owatonna, Minnesota the daughter of Vincent and Frances (Jirousek) Vesely. She married Paul Hanson and following their marriage farmed in Clinton Falls. Lorraine was an active volunteer in her community. She was a life member of Owatonna Historical Society and also was a member of the Owatonna Hospital Auxiliary, Owatonna Garden Club, and Owatonna Art Center. She served as Superintendent of the Horticulture Department at Steele County Fair for 50 years and received recognition in 2010. She also enjoyed making crafts, gardening, quilting and exhibiting at the county fair. She attended the United Methodist Church. She is survived by two children, Tom Hanson of Owatonna and Jan (and Tom) Lick of Shakopee; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Wavrin and Norma Karaus. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Owatonna Arts Center followed by a wish latern release. A private interment will be in the Dania Cemetery in Owatonna. Michaelson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
