Lorraine E. Ihrke, 94, of Owatonna, died on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at Homestead Hospice. She was born on August 13, 1925 in Meriden, the daughter of Henry and Hattie (Bohlman) Runge. Lorraine attended rural school and later earned her GED diploma. She married Kermit A. Ihrke on August 3, 1946, in Owatonna, where they continued to make their home and raise two daughters. She worked as a seamstress at Elwood Cleaners and Medora's Bridal Shop. Lorraine also worked at Brett's Department Store for 11 years in sales and clothing alterations. She retired in 1989. Lorraine was active in altar guild, quilting and choir while she was a member at Redeemer Lutheran Church. She transferred to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and was a member in their quilters group. Lorraine was a charter member of the Owatonna Arts Center. She enjoyed photography, gardening, scrapbooking and redesigning used greeting cards. Her most cherished memories were the time she spent with her family including going to picnics, parades, attending the Steele County Fair and visiting the parks in Owatonna. Lorraine is survived by her daughters, Carolyn (and Rod) Bunkers of Medford and Janet (and Dale) Kuyper of Owatonna; grandchildren, Sara (Bill) Fisher, Chad Kuyper (and Michael Chouinard) and Angela (and Joshua) Bau ; great-grandson, Nathen Jilek; brothers, Vernon Runge of Anoka and Arlo Runge of St. Paul; sisters, LaRue Ihrke of Dodge Center, Arlene (Donald) Ihrke of Balsam Lake, WI and Virginia (John) Schultz of Medford; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Kermit who died in 1974 and her parents. A private family memorial service will be at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Owatonna Memorial Gardens. Memorials are preferred to the family or to the donor's choosing.
