Lorraine, 64, of Wanamingo, Minnesota died Sunday, November 2, 2014 at her group home in Red Wing, Minnesota. Lorraine was born August 3, 1950 in Wausau, Wisconsin the daughter of Clarence and Minnie (Schattschneider) Wendorf. She was developmentally disabled with Down's syndrome and lived most of her life near Edgar, Wisconsin with her parents and siblings before moving to Kenyon, Minnesota with her mother in 2000. In 2002, she moved to a group home in Wanamingo and earlier this year transferred to a new group home in Red Wing. In Wisconsin: she was a communing member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church of Edgar; attended day programming at North Central Health Care in Wausau, and worked in a sheltered workshop there for many years. In Minnesota: she became a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church; loved her group-home housemates and caregivers like family; and was a client at Opportunity Services in Kasson, MN for ten years. She is survived by her sister Annette (Tom) Thunhorst, Kenyon, MN; sister-in-law, Nancy Wendorf of Wausau, WI; nieces: Tanya (Michael) Short of Kenyon, MN, and Shelly (Ryan) Schilling of Wausau, WI; nephew: Craig (Michele) Wendorf of Plover, WI; great-nieces: Madeline McCauley and Lindsey Short; great-nephews: Bennett Wendorf and Benjamin Short; and many friends (they know who they are). She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence in 1993; her brother, Marlyn in 1998; and her mother Minnie in 2001. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 3:00 PM at First Evangelical Church, Kenyon with the Reverend Luther Mathsen officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.
