Lorraine P. Wilson, age 93, of Owatonna, died Sunday, December 6, 2015 at Traditions I of Owatonna. Lorraine was born February 9, 1922 in Meriden Township, Minnesota the daughter of Henry and Emelia (Anhorn) Ambler. She moved many times with her parents during her younger years around the Owatonna area. At the age of 16 she met Wayne Wilson and the couple was united on February 20, 1941. They lived in the Owatonna area. When Wayne went into the service during WWII, Lorraine moved back and lived with her parents. They lived in Steele Center on a farm, a small home by the ZBJ Lodge and then moved to the small farm on County Road 45 where Lorraine lived for 57 years before going to the assisted living apartments at Traditions two years ago. Wayne died in 2007. Lorraine was an animal lover and always had a dog and a cat or two living in the house. She enjoyed watching the deer, wild turkeys and other wildlife on their small farm. She was an avid reader as anyone who visited her could tell by the many books she had and Wayne was always building new shelves to put them on. She also enjoyed counted cross stitch and crocheting. The library was her favorite place to go. Lorraine's greatest joy was her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. A visit from them was the highlight of any day. She beamed when she spoke of them. She is survived by a daughter Sharon (and Allan) Geyer of Kenyon; a son Gary (and Diane) Wilson of Owatonna; a daughter, Leanne (and Michael) Mahnke of Owatonna; six grandchildren Lane (and Amy) Geyer of Austin; Krissa (and Nathan) Holt of Maiden Rock, WI; Travis (and Trista) Wilson of New Prague; Brooke (and Mick) Delano of Dodge Center; Weston (and Cindy) Wilson of Owatonna; Justine (and MJ Howe) Mahnke of Owatonna; 21 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne in 2007, a grandson Philip Wilson, a brother Harry Ambler and her parents. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the Merton Township Cemetery in Merton Township. Memorials are preferred to the Owatonna Public Library in loving memory of Lorraine.
