Obituary

Louise K. Greier, 77, of Owatonna, died Sunday, January 18, 2009 at Homestead Hospice House. She was born January 29, 1931 in St. James, Minnesota the daughter of Alfred and Geneva Ewy. Louise attended rural school in District #28 in St. James, and then graduated from Butterfield High School. She then graduated from Mankato State Teachers College with a two-year degree in upper elementary education in 1951. Louise taught elementary education in Lewisville, MN from 1951-1955 and St. Peter from 1955-1958 and in Braham from 1958-1960. Louise married Victor Greier on June 13, 1954 at Zion Lutheran Church in Lewisville. She worked at Federated Insurance from 1961 until 1991 in the rate department for 14 years and as a work management analyst for the last sixteen years. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, where she was active with the Altar Guild, helping with funeral lunches, and also a member of the Woman''s Club of Owatonna. She enjoyed playing bridge, golf, and traveling. She especially enjoyed spending Holidays and celebrations of special events with family and friends. She is survived by her husband Victor Greier of Owatonna; sisters, Shirley (and Roy) Trullinger of Little Falls; Audrey Rieger of New Ulm; Patricia (and Fred) Valdez of Denver, CO; sister-in-law, Mabel Ewy of Mankato, and several nieces nephews. A very special friend Janell Salcedo also survives her. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Melvin Ewy. A reception and gathering of family and friends will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday January 28, 2009 from 4-7 PM and at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Thursday from 10-11 AM. A Celebration of Louise''s life will be held Thursday January 29, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Redeemer Lutheran Church with The Reverend Kirk Griebel officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to Redeemer Lutheran Church, or Homestead Hospice House.
