Louise M. Knippel, 96, of Owatonna, died Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna. She was born September 19, 1920 in Claremont, Minnesota the daughter of Albert and Otillia (Krampitz) Krippner. She grew up in Steele and Dodge Counties and attended school in Owatonna. On April 12, 1941, she married Floyd Knippel in La Crescent, MN. The couple made their home in Dodge Center and had four boys. Floyd died in 1957 and Louise and the boys continued living in Dodge Center until 1962 when they moved to Owatonna. Louise sold Watkins and Shaklee product before going back to school for a degree in interior design. Following her school, she worked in floral design and later in interior design. Louise was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Faribault where she faithfully served. Louise also volunteered at a number of places including the food shelf, crisis line, and the blood mobile where she received an award for the amount of blood she donated over the years. She also enjoyed genealogy studies and traveled to Germany researching her family tree. She is survived by sons, Joel (Nina) Knippel of Cross Lake, Jerrold (Pam) Knippel of Phoenix and Jeff (Carrie) Knippel of Owatonna; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Earl Krippner of Rochester and Jay (Gerry) Krippner of Cromwell; daughter-in-law, Betty Knippel of Independence, IA and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd Knippel (May 27, 1957); son, James Knippel (May 7, 1996); granddaughter, Joy Knippel Scott and siblings, George Krampitz, Harriet Anderson and Dorothy Lybeck. Memorials preferred to Heartland Hospice. Visitation will be 12-1pm Friday, January 27, 2017 at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna. A Funeral Service will be at 1pm Friday at Michaelson Funeral Home with Jason Hunt officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center.
