Obituary

Louise A. Potera, 98, of Kenyon, died Sunday, September 25, 2011 at Kenyon Sunset Home. She was born July 4, 1913 in Wanamingo the daughter of Martin and Johanna (Vangestad) Quittem. Louise graduated from Wanamingo High School and attended the Minnesota School of Business. She worked for Security State Bank of Wanamingo and Farmington State Bank. Lou then moved to Washington State to work as the secretary to the top official of the Manhattan Project. Later she was employed in the advertising department of E.I. Dupont Company in Wilmington, Delaware. While working for Dupont she met fellow employee Peter Potera who she married June 17, 1950 in Wilmington, DE. The couple later moved to Alexandria, VA where Peter worked as a dentist. Following her husbands death in 1986 she moved back to Minnesota. Louise was an avid bridge player, loved to read and she kept up to date on current events. Lou also enjoyed entertaining. She was a gracious hostess and excellent cook. Louise is survived by 5 nieces and 5 nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter; brothers, Kenneth, Melvin Juel Quittem; sisters, Berdelle Wallaker, Alice Krzyska. Visitation will be at First Lutheran Church on Saturday from 10am to 11am. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 11am at First Lutheran Church with The Reverend Luther Mathsen officiating. Interment will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Wanamingo. Memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Elevator Fund, Kenyon Sunset Home Chaplaincy Fund or to the donor''s choice. Visitation: 10/01/2011 10:00 10/01/2011 11:00 Service: 10/01/2011 11:00
