Lowell G. Schultz, 82, of Owatonna, died Sunday, December 15, 2019 at Homestead Hospice House following a 5 month battle with bladder cancer.
He was born July 14, 1937 in Owatonna Township the son of Lawrence and Rosina (Wilker) Schultz. Lowell graduated from Owatonna High School in 1955. On August 5, 1956 he married Betty Borwege at Associated Church in Owatonna. Lowell worked for Jostens from 1955 until 1967 at which time he started his real estate and home construction career. Lowell built his first home in 1959. He worked for V.I.P. Realtors from 1967-1974 and started Schultz Real Estate in 1974. From 1983-1985 he worked with People's Savings and Loan managing their real estate and rentals. Lowell retired in 2001.
Lowell served as President of the Board of Realtors, 10 years on the Housing Redevelopment Authority, several city boards and most recently on the Shade Tree Commission. He loved to work, open Costas in the mornings for his grandson and visit with friends. Lowell was a life member of the Elk's and a longtime member of the Eagle's. Lowell loved his family and the time he was able to spend with them; especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Schultz of Owatonna; son, Greg (and Shirley) Schultz of Owatonna; daughter, Lisa (and Len) Johnson of Chanhassen; 3 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brother, Wayne (and Dee) Schultz of New Ulm, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday from 4pm to 7pm and at St. John Lutheran Church on Friday from 9am to 10am. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 19, 2019 at 10am at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to Homestead Hospice Patient Care Fund, St. John Lutheran Church or to the donor's choice.
