Obituary

Lucille M. Knutson, 81, of Owatonna, died Friday, December 9, 2011 at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna. She was born June 19, 1930 in Owatonna, Minnesota the daughter of Edward and Ella (Brozik) Kulas. She grew up on the west end of Bridge Street, the only girl with three brothers. She attended Country School #55 and graduated from Owatonna High School in 1948. She met Wayne Knutson as a youth and they went on their first date when Wayne was 13. They dated on and off and married on July 18, 1951, when Wayne was in the service. In their union they had two children, Kathy in 1953, and Kenneth in 1954. Lucille worked as a secretary to the County Extension Office, then as a secretary for the grade school Principal, and last as Farm Bureau Secretary until retiring. She also sold cosmetics for 50 years. Lucille was a very loving person. Her family was first in her life along with her faith and church activities. She enjoyed spending vacations visiting her children and grandchildren. One vacation was spent taking care of two grandchildren with chicken pox. She also crocheted blankets for her grandchildren. Lucille and Wayne loved going to Square Dances several times a week for 50 years. She has always liked flowers and working with them. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she belonged to the Ladies groups and after retiring, volunteered delivering Meals On Wheels and putting the Messenger together at the church. She was also active in the Worthwhile Extension Club for many years, and active in 4-H as a youth and as an adult 4-H Leader. She is survived by her husband, Wayne Knutson of Owatonna; two children, Kathy (and Sterling) Catacleesi of Palm Springs, CA, and Kenneth (and Laurie) Knutson of Mascoutah, IL; six grandchildren, Sara (and Brian) Agne of Tucker, GA, Elizabeth McNelly of Chattanooga, TN, Hunter Catacleesi and Tangerine Catacleesi of Palm Springs, CA, Crystal (and Adam) Gugelmeyer of Camp Pendleton, CA, and Sherrie Knutson of Sullivan, IL; two great grandchildren, Hayden and Hannah Agne; sister-in-law, Betty Kulas of Owatonna. She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Harold (and Melvina) Kulas, Elmer Kulas, and one in infancy. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and at Trinity Lutheran Church on Thursday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM . Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverend John Lestock officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church 'Building for Generations' Fund, Homestead Hospice House or donors choice.
