Lynn Dianne (Erickson) Berns, 64, of Colorado Springs, CO, died Sunday, March 11, 2018, at Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Colorado Springs. She was born August 10, 1953 in Seattle, Washington the daughter of Donn and Ann (Hovland) Erickson. She graduated from Sandia High School in 1971. She continued her education at Pikes Peak Community College, earning two associates degrees in math and science, as well as Colorado Technical College, where she earned an Electrical Engineering Technical Certificate. Lynn served in the United States Army from June 4, 1973 until her honorable discharge on February 21, 1975. She met and became best friends with Robert Berns in 1981. They united in marriage on February 14, 1984. She was a dedicated full-time mother and homemaker, and also took on work as a nursing assistant at the Myron Stratton Home, as well as the assistant manager at Farm Crest Milk Store, at different periods during her life. Lynn had a life-long passion for gardening and plants of all kinds, as well as a passion for her children whom she loved dearly. She was a selfless person with a quiet nature and a very unique sense of humor. She made the earth a better place.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; son, Ray; daughter, Laura; brother, Jeff; sister, Laurie; grandson Zachary; step-mother, Mary; uncle, Ron; sisters-in-law, Diane and Louise; brothers-in-law, Tom and Mike; cousins, Kim and Todd; dear aunts, Geneva and Ruby; father-in-law, Robert; Mike Robinson, Sean, Sam, Mary Berns, Jack, Sonny, Tamara, Eric, Odette, Josie, Frankie, Ginger and many extended friends and family including the Berns siblings and many more loved plants and animals.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donn and Ann; daughter, Lisa; dear friend, Hazel Wright; aunt Mavis; mother-in-law, Elaine; Sammie, Kristi; grandparents, Melvin and Gunda Hovland and Earl and Irene Erickson; uncle Bob and many extended friends and family and loved plants and animals.
A Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna on Wednesday, March 21st from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Aurora Lutheran Cemetery followed by a Remembrance Service and lunch reception at Aurora Lutheran Church, rural Owatonna. Lynn's uncle, Reverend Ronald Barth will officiate.
