Obituary

Lynn Frederick Klages, 76, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Homestead Hospice House. He was born December 5, 1940 in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota the son of Frederick and Olivia (Huffman) Klages. He grew up in Sleepy Eye where he attended school and graduated from high school in 1958. Following his schooling, he worked on a farm. During this time, he met Evonne and they were married on September 25, 1960 in Comfrey and made their home in Morgan. Lynn enrolled in Dunwoody Institute and attended there for two years. The couple then moved to Pease and Lynn worked as a print press operator in Milaca. A move in 1967 took them to Faribault where he worked at the Faribault Daily News as a print press operator. He also worked at all the theaters running the movies in the evenings and on weekends. He went back to school at Faribault Vo-Tech for two years and in 1973 the couple moved to Owatonna where Lynn worked as a machinist at Mustang Manufacturing. Lynn was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Owatonna. He enjoyed telling a good joke, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, camping and sitting by the camp fire, watching western movies and country music. He is survived by his wife Evonne Klages of Owatonna; children, Pam (Charles Kuether) Klages of Owatonna, Lori (Tim) Schroht of Owatonna, Tim (Rita) Klages of Elysian and Jeff (Jean) Klages of Mounds View; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, Colleen Kelley of Wilson, WI, Ruth (Fred) Asmus of Gaylord, Dean Klages of Coon Rapids, Marlene Krippner of Stewart, Ray (Kathy) Klages of Arkansas and Cheryl Krzmarzick of Manson, IA; sisters-in-law, Wanda Klages and Pat Klages both of Maple Plain and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Olivia; great-grandson, Tim Patrick Uttecht; brothers, Dennis and Paul and brothers-in-law, Duane Kelley, Joe Krippner and Leo Krzmarzick. A Memorial Service will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 11am with visitation one hour prior to the service. Reverend Kirk Griebel will officiate.
