Lynn Vernon Tollefson, 85, of Kenyon, died Sunday, at his home. Lynn was born July 25, 1926 in Rushford, Minnesota the son of Roy and Olga (Kjos) Tollefson. He served, in Germany in the army infantry, 63rd Division, during World War II from September 1944 through July 1946. Following the service, Lynn returned to the Lanesboro area and was united in marriage to Benita Northouse October 1946 in Lanesboro. From this union a daughter, Diane was born. Lynn later married Bea Holte on March 8, 1952 in North Prairie Parsonage, Rushford, Minnesota. The couple had two daughters, Susan and Vicki. They moved to Kenyon in 1958 where Lynn worked as an insurance agent for State Farm Insurance. In 1965, he began working at Security State Bank of Kenyon as the insurance broker and small loan officer. After retiring in 1989, Lynn began a new venture as owner of Dahlen Jewelry and Mr. T''s Beahive. Lynn''s lifetime love of music began with his mother''s encouragement at the age of three. Lynn was active in the Barbershop Society for 57 years and sang with the Faribault Lakelanders Barbershop Chorus as well as directing. As a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church his passion for music expanded into the church where he sang with the choir since 1958 and directed the choir for the past 25 years. Lynn and Bea enjoyed dancing, traveling, antiquing and family gatherings. He also served the Kenyon community as a member of the Lions Club. He is survived by his wife Bea Tollefson of Kenyon; three daughters, Diane (and Roger) Randall of Farmington; granddaughters, Kimberly (and Joel) Boulanger of New Prague; Koni (and Jason) Hudak of Waseca; great grandchildren, Madeline, Katie and Jake Boulanger, Jackson, Jenna and Megan Hudak; Vicki (and David) Lind of Lakeville; granddaughter, Tabitha Lind; Susan Tollefson of Saint Louis Park; a sister, Elsie (and Jerry) Narveson of Chatfield; and sister-in-law, Peggy Tollefson of Austin and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Benita Northouse, his parents, a brother David Tollefson; and a granddaughter, Becky Randall (1998). Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the church. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 11:00 AM at First Evangelical Lutheran Church with The Reverend Luther Mathsen officiating. Interment will be in the Castle Rock Valley Cemetery in Farmington. Military honors will be provided by the Kenyon Veterans Color Guard.
