Margaret Agatha Brase, 79, of Owatonna, died Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Homestead Hospice House. She was born September 7, 1937 in Albert Lea, Minnesota the daughter of Hans and Agatha (Ohm) Carstensen. She moved to Owatonna with her family in 1948 and attended Owatonna High School. She was united in marriage to Eugene Brase on June 25, 1954. The couple made their home in Owatonna where they raised their six children. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and the Eagle's Auxiliary. Margaret was a kind-hearted person always putting others first. She was a good listener, remembered everyone's birthday and always had a smile on her face. A treat was always available for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren when they visited. Margaret had a positive outlook on life, always looking forward and not dwelling on the past. She is survived by children, Laura (Roger) Ihrke of Owatonna, Catherine Brase of Denver, Craig (Tammy) Brase of Owatonna, Darla (Tim) Berg of Osceola, WI and Holly (Ralph) Rabasco of Orlando, FL; brothers, Alvin (Marie) Carstensen of Lancaster, VA and Jerry (Mary) Carstensen of Owatonna; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; son, Randall; parents, Hans and Agatha (Ohm) Carstensen; sister, Dorothy and brother, Robert. Visitation will be held at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna on Thursday, March 23rd from 5-7pm and at the church one hour prior to the service. Funeral services will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1909 St. Paul Road, in Owatonna on Friday, March 24, 2017, at 1:30pm with Reverend John Weisenburger officiating.
