Margaret H. Detjen, 94, of Farmington, died Monday, August 12, 2013 at Trinity Care center in Farmington. She was born March 4, 1919 in Minnesota Lake Township, Faribault County the daughter of Edward and Hulda (Grunzke) Schirmer. Margaret was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church in rural Minnesota Lake. She attended the rural Minnesota Lake School District 62 and high school. On November 18, 1937 she married Wilmar Detjen at St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church. She and her husband farmed in the Minnesota Lake area until they moved to Waseca in 1962, where she worked at E.F. Johnson. The couple moved to Owatonna in 1972 where she resided until 2007. She then moved to Prior Lake and then to Trinity Care Center in Farmington. Margaret was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church since 1972. She was active in the Merriam and Rebecca Circles and also the volunteer Quilting Group. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved having company, crocheting, gardening, and playing cards with family and friends. She is survived by her three sons Ronald (Nancy) Detjen of Long Beach, CA, Dale (Peggy) Detjen of Lakeville, and Gary (Cindy) Detjen of Prior Lake, nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wilmar in 1992, infant daughter Evonn, and brother Harold. Visitation will be at Trinity Lutheran Church on Thursday August 15, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Thursday August 15, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church with The Reverend Julie Malone officiating. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery in Mapleton.
