Margaret V. Mittelstadt, 96, of Owatonna, died Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Park Place Senior Living in Owatonna, Minnesota.
Margaret Victoria Mittelstadt was born in Owatonna, MN on August 23, 1918, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Chladek) Skalicky. Margaret was raised in Owatonna and graduated from Owatonna High School in 1936. Shortly after graduation, she began working at Federated Insurance Company. She worked at Federated for a total of 25 years and retired the end of December, 1975. Margaret married Harold Paul Mittelstadt on June 8, 1946.
She has been an active member of St. John Lutheran Church, serving as past president of the ALCW and the Altar Guild. She also was a member of the Federated Quarter Century Club, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, the Hospital Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary and a Fairy Lamp Club. She enjoyed completing cross-stitch pictures, doing crossword puzzles and playing cribbage with family and friends.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandi (Dennis) King, Owatonna, and Lori (Paul) Benner, Mason City, Iowa, one son, Charles (Valerie), Muskegon, MI, and very special family, Dale and Bonnie Jensen, Blaine, MN, one brother, Leo (Bud) Skalicky, 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband on March 20, 1988, 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Visitation will be at St. John Lutheran Church on Monday, June 22, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 22, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church in Owatonna with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to donor's choice. Michaelson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
