Margie Trilk, 71, of Owatonna, died peacefully at home with her family by her side on Saturday January 25th, 2025, from complications of a fall due to Parkinson's disease.
Margie (Margaret Ann) Hermes was born June 8, 1953, in St. Paul Mn. to Vernon and Margaret (Garvey) Hermes. She grew up in a busy happy home with three brothers and three sisters. Margie attended St. Paul area schools and graduated from Our Lady of Peace high school with the class of 1971.
Margie then attended Ottumwa Heights College in Ottumwa, Iowa. It was here that she met a local boy...Gary Trilk. Margie and Gary were joined in marriage on September 18, 1976, at St. Luke's Catholic Church in St. Paul, Mn. Margie and Gary settled in Owatonna, Mn. and raised their children Joe and Meghan. Margie loved being a mom. Being their best friend was easy because Margie really never grew up herself. Having Margie for a mom was like your favorite babysitter that never had to go home.
Shortly after arriving in Owatonna Margie took a dental assisting position with Duane Lennartson. Margie assisted for Duane his entire career. Upon Lenny's retirement Margie moved to the front desk and managed the office. Margie retired in 2018 after 42 years with Owatonna Dental Care... The only job she ever had.
Margie was special. Beautiful inside and out. Margie possessed boundless energy, was athletic (better arm than Gary), smiled easily and often, loved kids, and was a person of deep faith. Margie had a kindness about her that endeared her to everyone she met. As the old saying goes if you were lucky enough to have Margie as a friend you were lucky enough.
In 2020 Margie was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. She handled it in her usual way.... with determination and grace. We will try to handle our loss the same way... but with a broken heart.
Margie is survived by her husband and best friend, Gary Trilk of Owatonna; children, Joseph (and Brittney) Trilk, Meghan (and Jeff) Harrison; grandchildren, Bryce, Harper and Kampbell Trilk, and Beckham, Presley, and Leighton Harrison; siblings, John (and Mary Jane) Hermes of Colorado Springs, CO, Jane (and Rob) Jensen of White bear Lake, Mark (and Sally) Hermes, of Lindstrom, Jim (and Lisa) Hermes of Pleasanton, CA, Mary (and Tim) Cromwell, of Costa Mesa, CA, and Juliana Hermes of Pass Christian, MS.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Margaret Hermes
