Margo Stella Lenore Ostgaard, 75, of Kenyon, died Sunday, May 11, 2014 at the Kenyon Sunset Home. She was born June 8, 1938 in Faribault, Minnesota the daughter of Norman and Stella (Foss) Knutson. She lived with her family in Kenyon and graduated from Kenyon High School in 1956. She then moved to Minneapolis and worked at Midwest Federal. She met the love of her life Mike Ostgaard in Minneapolis. They were married June 16, 1962 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenyon. In their union they had three sons, Jeff, Jon, and Jay. Margo was a stay at home mom during the time they lived in Minneapolis, Bloomington, and Rosemount. In 1971, they moved to Kenyon to raise their family. She also worked at the Kenyon Leader for 17 years. In 1989, they moved to Fort Collins, Colorado where she worked as an administrative assistant at Loveland Hospital. They returned to Kenyon in 1999. Margo worked at the Kenyon Sunset Home until her retirement in 2003. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church and sang in the church choir. She performed in summer musicals, enjoyed singing, and meeting with her friends every Wednesday. Margo loved to visit family and friends. She enjoyed going out to eat (especially Perkins). Margo also enjoyed her Sunday drives with the family and enjoyed seeing the fall colors. She also enjoyed a trip to Hawaii. Her family was most important to her and she loved the time spent with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Mike Ostgaard of Kenyon; three sons, Jeff (and B.J.) Ostgaard of Kasson, Jon (and Robyn) Ostgaard of Farmington, Jay (and Rachel) Ostgaard of Roseau; five grandchildren, Tyler, Haley Rose, Colton, Dalton, and Paige; three sisters-in-law, Carol Knutson of Woodbury, Lonnie Brown of St. Louis, MO, and Karin Zurbrick of Montgomery, TX; two brothers-in-law, Gerry Kispert of Bloomington, and Bill Barstad of Madison, WI; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Duane Knutson, sisters, Norleen Kispert and Diane Barstad, and aunt, Bernice Knutson. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon on Thursday, May 15, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and at First Evangelical Lutheran Church on Friday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 16, 2014 at 11:00 AM at First Evangelical Lutheran Church with The Reverend Durk Peterson officiating.
