Maria E. Ramirez, 76, of Kenyon, Minnesota died Monday, July 25, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Maria Elena Reyna was born on December 17, 1939 in Durango, Mexico the daughter of Anacleto and Julia (Rodriguez) Reyna. She grew up in Durango and later moved to Cd. Acuna, Mexico where she graduated from high school and attended college. Following her schooling, she worked as a secretary and a math teacher. She was united in marriage to Raymundo Ramirez in 1963. The couple lived in Cd. Acuna before moving to Del Rio, Texas. They came to Kenyon as migrant workers and lived between Del Rio and Kenyon until 1987 when they became permanent residents of Kenyon. Maria enjoyed crossword puzzles, traveling to the Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe in LaCross, WI, embroidering, listening to music, cooking and especially spending time with her children and their families. One of her favorite things was playing Loteria with her family. She is survived by her husband, Raymundo Ramirez of Kenyon; children, Maria Elena Rodriguez, Elida (Alfonso) Tellez, Ana Ramirez, Blanca Zapata, Raymundo Ramirez, Jr, Ramiro Ramirez, Teresa (Reymundo) Cruz, Rodolfo Ramirez, Julie (Calixto) Torres, Ruben (Yadira) Ramirez and Manuel Ramirez; brother, Mario (Magda) Reyna of Del Rio, Texas; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anacleto granddaughter, Jasmin Cruz and siblings, Nieves, Manuel Amalia, Teofilo, Josefina and Socorro Reyna. A visitation will be held from 4-8pm Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at Michaelson Funeral Home in Kenyon and at the church one hour prior to Mass. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Thursday, July 28, 2016, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kenyon with Fr. Kevin Kenney officiating. Burial will be in the Kenyon City Cemetery.
