Maria "Rea" A. Andersen, 78, of Owatonna, died Thursday, July 2, 2020, at the Mayo Clinic Hospital – St. Marys Campus in Rochester. She was born on November 12, 1941, in Volga, SD, the daughter of Harold and Ruby (Elverud) Fulmer. Maria graduated from Elkton High School, SD in 1959. On August 13, 1961, she married Dennis Andersen in Brookings, SD. In 1979, they moved to Owatonna where they have made their home for the past 40 years. Maria worked at Owatonna Tool Company now known as Bosch for many years. She enjoyed listening to music and dancing. She also enjoyed traveling and camping throughout the United States from Alaska to Arizona. Maria had a tender spot in her heart for her family especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. Rea is survived by her husband, Dennis Andersen; children, Les (Luann) Andersen of Fenton, IA, Lonny (Julia) Andersen of Owatonna and Lynda (J.D.) Kuplic of Apple Valley; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and sister, Evalu (Mark) Kasper of Owatonna. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Roma Steffen. Visitation will be at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church on Friday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Memorial service will be held July 10, 2020, at 11:00 am at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Thomas Smith officiating. Interment will be in Owatonna Memorial Gardens.
