Marian Adeline Dostal, 92, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Homestead Hospice House. She was born April 19, 1921 in Bixby, Minnesota the daughter of Louis and Martha (Blazek) Styndl. There she was raised and attended school. Following school, she helped on the family farm. Marian was united in marriage to Wencl Dostal on February 14, 1942 at St. John Lutheran Church, Owatonna. Marian was a stay at home Mom helping raising her three children. Wencl owned a wall paper and decorating business and Marian would help with the book work and on occasion help Wencl hang wall paper. Marian was a loving grandmother and great grandmother. She was always there for them in whatever they needed from sewing their clothes, babysitting or making quilts. Marian''s quilts were entered in the Steele County Free Fair and also at the Minnesota State Fair. She loved quilting, sewing, canning and had a passion for gardening. Wencl and Marian also enjoyed square dancing. Marian''s family blacksmith shop from Bixby is now at the Village of Yesteryear for everyone to tour and enjoy. Marian was a member of the VFW Women''s Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Wencl Dostal of Owatonna; a son, Larry (and Cathy) Dostal of Owatonna; two daughters, Anne Panos of Woodstock, IL; Judy Halverson of Baxter, MN; six grandchildren, Jeremy Knippel, Jennifer (and Scott) Estrem; Michael Dostal; Michelle (and Ben) Sunde; Joshua Panos; Jacob Panos; four great grandchildren, Maximillian Estrem; Michael Estrem; Isabell Sunde and Anika Sunde. Marian is also survived by a sister, Lois (and Joe) Baker of Lacrosse, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son at infancy and a sister, Rita McConnell. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Friday, April 4, 2014, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the church. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 5, 2014, at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
