Marian Christine Heggedahl, 90, of West Concord, Minnesota passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Circle Drive Manor Assisted Living, West Concord. Marian was born July 4, 1923 in Rural, Dodge County, Minnesota the daughter of Nels and Clara (Pinske) Ryg. She was united in marriage to Arthur Heggedahl on October 4, 1941at Hegre Lutheran Church near Skyberg, Minnesota. After their marriage the couple lived in Bombay, Lansing and Claremont, Minnesota during their working years. Marian owned and operated her own meat cutting shop on the farm near Claremont being one of few women meat cutters. Art and Marian owned a resort on Mille Lacs Lake for several years and upon their retirement, lived near Garrison, Minnesota on Mille Lacs Lakes for twenty years. While in Garrison, she was an active member of the VFW Auxiliary. In 1996, they came back to Dodge County moving to West Concord. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Claremont. Art died in 1998. Marian enjoyed cooking and gardening. In her later years, Marian would always be sewing. All of her children, grandchildren and even the great grandchildren have pillow cases, towels and tablecloths that were stitched by her. She is survived by four daughters Sharon (and Richard) Harmer of Claremont; Tami (and Jeremy) Miller of Dodge Center; Deb (and Leif) Knecht of Northfield; Valorey Heggedahl of Fort Collins, CO. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren; a sister-in-law Marge Ryg of West Concord and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Art Heggedahl; her parents; sisters Mayme Kleven; Helen Merrill; Norma Butterfield and her brothers Gordon Ryg and Johnny Ryg. Services for Marian will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Michaelson Funeral Home, West Concord. Memorials are preferred to donor''s choice.
