Marian Jane Hofdahl, 89, of Owatonna, died Monday, January 23, 2023 at Birchwood Cottages in Owatonna.

She was born August 17, 1933 in Winona, Minnesota the daughter of Elmer and Birdie (Todd) Barum. She attended school in Winona. She moved with her mother to Owatonna and began working at Sharky's. Working close by at Brick Furniture was a young man, Donald Hofdahl, who caught her eye. The couple was married on September 23, 1950, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Owatonna. They lived on School Street where they raised their four children. Along with being a homemaker, Marian worked at Truth, the Owatonna Nursing Home and the American Legion.

Marian was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She enjoyed volunteering with poppy sales and pull tab sales at the Legion.

She dearly loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them and the rest of the family. She also enjoyed gambling, playing cards, socializing with everyone and loved Tony Bennett.

She is survived by her children, Jeffrey Hofdahl of Dallas, TX, Dennis (Pat) Hofdahl of Owatonna and Lucinda (Robert) Ihrke of Owatonna; son-in-law, Jack Paul of Medford; grandchildren, Mark Paul, Jesse Paul, Todd Hofdahl, Rachel (Pat) Boyd and Eric (Melissa) Ihrke; 13 great-grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren and 8 step-great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Birdie; husband, Donald Hofdahl (2001) daughter, Susan Paul and siblings, Joan (Reuben) Prodahl and Gene Barum.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, January 27, 2023 at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Todd Buegler from Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate. Interment will be in Owatonna Memorial Gardens in Clinton Falls Township.
