Marian Joachim Hunt, 86, of Owatonna, died Friday, April 6, 2012 at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth, Minnesota. She was born March 15, 1926 in Faribault, Minnesota, the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Johnson) Joachim. The family later moved to Owatonna and Marian graduated Owatonna High School in 1944. After her schooling, she worked at Josten's. Marian then moved to Minneapolis where she first worked for BBDO Advertising and then as a secretary for ADM. She married Kenneth Hunt on October 19, 1962 in Minneapolis. Ken also worked at ADM and they relocated to Illinois for work for a short period. When Ken retired in 1971, they returned to Minnesota, settling in Owatonna. Marian then worked for the Rietz Law Office and the Steele County Attorney's Office. Following her 'retirement," Marian worked one day per week for the Catherine Furness Law Office until August of 2011. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Owatonna Women's Club, and various bridge clubs. Marian enjoyed sewing, especially for her granddaughters and their dolls. She also enjoyed flower gardening and tending to her roses. Marian remained an avid reader throughout her lifetime, joining a book club in Duluth. Marian is survived by her daughter, Amy (and James 'Butch') Kuronen of Duluth; two granddaughters, Anna and Maria Kuronen; sister, Patty (and Don) Mussman of Stewartville; two sisters-in-law, Lavon Joachim of Bloomington and Hedy Joachim of Jordan; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Dorothy Gallea and Marjorie Hentges, and four brothers, Raymond, Donald, Joseph, and Roger Joachim. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday, April 12, 2012 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. A prayer service will be held 4:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held April 13, 2012 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with The Reverend Edward McGrath officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Owatonna Public Library, or to an organization of the donor's choice.
