Marian (Oz) Lou Seibert passed away on August 7, 2024 at the age of 91 from congestive heart failure. Oz was born on February 8, 1933, in Ringsted, Iowa to Ernest and Esther (Govig) Oskvig. She graduated from Ringsted High School and attended business school in Minneapolis.
She met Douglas Seibert from St. Peter and they were married on December 5, 1954. They enjoyed 63 years together. They had two children, Steve and Pam. They built a new home in St. Peter, Minnesota, but then moved to the Oskvig family farm in Iowa for several years. In 1967, Doug and Oz purchased a grocery store and meat market in Kiester, Minnesota, and enjoyed serving the surrounding communities for over 20 years. Doug and Oz enjoyed their years playing golf at Lake Mills Country Club every week. Following Doug's heart bypass surgery at Abbott Hospital, Doug and Oz sold the store and began annual treks to Lake Placid, Florida, to enjoy the winter with many friends from Doug's years in the U.S. Navy.
In September 2013, Doug and Oz sold their home in Kiester and moved to Morehouse Place in
Owatonna. They thoroughly enjoyed the many new friends they made at Morehouse. Doug passed away in January 2018 from dementia at Birchwood Cottages in Owatonna.
Oz was proud of being 100% Norwegian. She enjoyed lunch at the Kernel and coffee and conversation whenever the pot of coffee was on. Oz's faith in Jesus Christ gave her peace throughout life. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and appreciated the kindness of Pastor Greg Schlicker along with the camaraderie of the Wednesday quilting group prior to the Covid pandemic.
Oz was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Esther Oskvig, her in-laws Jay and Irene Seibert, her husband Doug, and her sister Beverly. She is survived by children Steve Seibert, Pam (Jim) Seaser, and her three grandchildren, Jay, Jenna, Joel (Emily), great-grandson James, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4PM- 7PM on Friday, August 9, 2024 at Michaelson Funeral Home and from 9:30AM- 10:30AM on Saturday, August 10, 2024 with the funeral service starting at 10:30AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Owatonna. Private interment will occur at a later date. Memorials may be given to Good Shepherd Preschool at 2500-7'h Avenue NE in Owatonna or the donor's choice.
The family would like to thank the many kind servers she enjoyed seeing at the Kernel Restaurant on a regular basis. We are thankful for the excellent medical care from Dr. Van Gelder at the Owatonna Clinic as well as many specialists at Mayo Clinic Rochester. Oz was the best marketing person for Morehouse Place. She looked forward to all the activities with good friends and was thankful for Therese and Cheryl in the office who kept the place running smoothly. She just could not say enough how happy she was at Morehouse, how well maintained it was, and was grateful for the underground heated garage. When asked where she was off to today, she liked to answer, "I don't know, but when the wheels on the car are moving, I will be in it." Enjoy your car rides with Dad in heaven, Mom!
