Marianne Mauer, 77, of Owatonna, Minnesota died peacefully on Monday, December 22, 2025, at her home surrounded by family.
Marianne was born December 3, 1948, in Moorhead, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Joseph and Cecilia (Dow) Stech and graduated from Marian High School in 1967. Marianne was united in marriage to Rodney Mauer on July 26, 1985, at the Associated Church and they made their home in Owatonna. She was employed in different Human Resources capacities and ended her career at Mayo Clinic Health System.
Marianne enjoyed spending time with family and friends, quilting and gardening. In earlier years, she had fun bowling, painting ceramics and being by the lake with her family. Marianne "worked" at the Calico Hutch quilt store after she retired and deepened her love of quilting. Her Grandma Dow had shown her love of quilting during childhood, and she thoroughly enjoyed every stitch! If you are blessed enough to have one of her treasures, there is love in every stitch and thought in every piece.
Marianne is survived by her two daughters, Heather (Brian) Walkingstick and Michelle (Ron) Mead, all of Owatonna; grandchildren, Amanda (Kevin) Krogh, Stephanie (Mike) Larson, Brittney (Miguel) Mead; great-grandchildren, Riley, Cole, Matthew, Tevari, Wyatt, Evianna, Ava, Emilia, and baby Nava on the way; sisters, Jeanne (David) Buecksler of Owatonna and Joyce (Mike) Chinander of Depoe Bay, OR; brother, Jerry (Marsha) Stech of Fleming; sister-in-law, Annette Stech of Bloomington; also her beloved nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rod in 2017, a brother, Bob Stech; and her parents and grandparents.
A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Owatonna. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at the church. Interment will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
