Obituary

Marie A. 'Anne' Wandrey, 97, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at Cedarview Care Center. She was born May 20, 1911 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of James and Martha (Wildgrube) Jenet. She graduated from high school and worked as a secretary. She married Theodore J. "Ted" Wandrey on September 12, 1936 in Chicago. In 1945, the family moved to Owatonna. Anne was active in many clubs and service organizations throughout her life. She was especially interested in sewing and crafts and one of her special projects was working with Project HOPE where she was instrumental in sending tons of clothing and household supplies to the less fortunate families in the US and Mexico. In 1962, she and Ted moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, where she again was able to continue working with service groups and church missions. Following Ted''s death in 1968, she worked for a short time in Indianapolis before returning to Owatonna to be near old friends and family. She maintained a very active lifestyle well into her 90's, living in her own home with her beloved pet poodle Bonnie until recent years. She was one of the first residents to move into the Traditions Assisted Living Center. In April of 2008 she was able to move to Park Place where she could look down the street to her old home and was happy to be back in her old neighborhood. Anne is survived by two daughters; Judy Fiedler of Fountain City, Wisconsin, and Marcia (Gary) Nelson of Owatonna; grandchildren, Tim Nelson, Todd Nelson, Trent Nelson and Megan Graupman of Owatonna; Jeff Fiedler of Columbus, Wisconsin; seven great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ted, a brother and sister. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Saturday, January 3, 2009 from 9-10 AM. Funeral services will be held January 3, 2009 at 10:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to the Steele County Humane Society; where Anne had adopted her beloved dogs. Visitation: 01/03/2009 09:00 01/03/2009 10:00 Service: 01/03/2009 10:00
